Even if you don’t need another mage in your party, it’s worth bringing Hapi on board if only for the extra support conversations and insights into other characters.
Recruiting Hapi in Fire Emblem Three Hopes
Unlike recruiting Byleth, recruiting Hapi is a fairly straightforward process and doesn’t involve completing any secret side missions. You will need to use strategy points, though, which means completing side missions before tackling the chapter’s main quest. Make sure you have at least 10 strategy points, though 20 is ideal since another character also appears with Hapi.
Recruit Hapi in Scarlet Blaze
The Black Eagles can recruit Hapi in Chapter 4, The Struggle Commences, as part of the invasion of Garreg Mach. Before the battle begins, select “Persuade Hapi” – and “Persuade Constance” if you want to recruit her as well.
Once the first phase of the battle is over, Constance and Hapi show up leading reinforcements. Activate the strategy when prompted, and defeat Hapi. She’ll join you at the end of the battle, and the same goes for Constance.
The Black Eagles are hardly short of a mage, but these two are still worth recruiting. Both have exceptionally high magic. Hapi can withstand damage better than Constance, but Constance’s Crest is particularly useful for conserving weapon durability.
Recruit Hapi in Azure Gleam
The Blue Lions recruit Hapi at the same time, in Chapter 4 – To War! Like in the Scarlet Blaze version of the fight, Hapi appears in the second phase, leading a battalion of reinforcements. Activate the strategy, defeat Hapi, and she joins at the end of the battle.
Toward the end of the fight, you have a chance to recruit Petra as well. If you want to, activate the strategy and defeat her. Like in Three Houses, Petra lacks a bit in the strength department but makes up for it with her incredible speed. She also has a handy dash skill that launches foes and deals wind damage.
Recruit Hapi in Golden Wildfire
If you’re the Golden Deer, recruiting Hapi happens in Cchapter 9, The End of the Alliance. This time, she shows up towards the end of the battle, though the process is still the same. Activate the strategy, then defeat her. Constance shows up immediately afterward.
Best Class for Hapi
The class tree makes no secret that the Mage class is best for Hapi, and given her relatively low strength and defense, you pretty much want to stick with what the class tree says. You can augment her combat abilities by letting her learn Priest and Bishop skills, but your best bet is progressing her through the Warlock class and eventually on to Gremory.
