In addition to various patches and updates, there have been several limited-time modes arriving or set to land in the near future, such as the recent 50 vs 50 retooling of Battle Royale’s typical 99 vs 1 mentality.
For those who have committed themselves to learning the way of the bush (and if you haven’t, you should), the Sneaky Silencer limited-time mode arrives January 5th and runs through January 8th, turning Battle Royale into a silent, slow-motion battle to the death.
Fortnite Funk Ops Outfit/Disco Brawl Harvester
If you prefer something a little more loud and colorful than wearing a bush and using a silenced pistol, then the Funk Ops outfit and its groovy harvester counterpart will be more up your alley!
The base Save The World mode of Fortnite has a very unique and tongue-in-cheek art style, mixing cute graphics with an apocalyptic world that seems like it should be a little more depressing and a lot less bright.
Bringing some of that humor into Battle Royale mode are the Funk Ops outfit and the Disco Brawl harvester skin, which will each will set you back 1,500 V-Bucks.
Where to Get the Funk Ops Outfit
1,500 V-bucks is about $14.99 in real world currency at the Item Shop if you are the sort of person who spends money on in-game items. Keep in mind though that if you have the (currently not free) Save The World mode base game, you can earn V-Bucks for free by completing daily quests, and that currency transfers over to Battle Royale mode.
Neither of the new items can be found (as of this writing) as a random drop, so perusing the Item Shop while waiting in a Battle Royale lobby is the only way to grab either the harvester or the Funk Ops skin.
For 1,500 V-Bucks apiece, you can get a killer fro and a freaky disco ball!
Funk Ops Outfit Changes
Both of these new options offer cosmetic changes only, and they don’t actually change your stats or make your harvesting tool attacks any more efficient. A few people have complained that the large afro and disco ball on the harvesting tool make it slightly harder to see people coming up from behind you, but I haven’t noticed any major differences between these skins and the base outfits.
If you pick up the Funk Ops outfit and manage to net a Battle Royale win, be sure to leave us a comment and let us know!
Sadly, you can’t take the trip to Funkytown while wearing these new items during the Save The World mode, and they are only up for grabs in the massive Battle Royale matches.
Maybe if enough players demand more outfit options in the base game, we might see some changes on that front? The developers have been pretty open to feedback from players during this open beta testing, so be sure to leave a comment in the forums if you want to see more outfits like the Funk Ops arriving soon!
